Frosted Looks Towards Breeders' Cup

Godolphin's Frosted (Tapit), winner of Saturday's GII Pennsylvania Derby, will be aimed towards the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, according to trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. “Frosted was great. He deserved to win another nice race, and he did,” said McLaughlin. “It was a little nerve-wracking running him back in three weeks, but he couldn't have been doing any better. He runs so well for Joel [Rosario].”

Mclaughlin had another big winner on the weekend with Shadwell Stable's Mohaymen (Tapit), who was successful in his Belmont unveiling Saturday.

“He was a little green, I think, but he dug back in,” McLaughlin noted. “It was a nice first start. I'm not sure exactly what we'll do with him but we're happy that he won first time out.”

GII Lake Placid S. and GII Sands Point S. winner Sentiero Italia (Medaglia d'Oro) could join stablemate Frosted in Lexington for the Breeders' Cup. The filly is scheduled to start in Keeneland's GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Oct. 10 and, depending upon her performance, could aim for the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

“I absolutely think she's Breeders' Cup quality,” said McLaughlin. “We'd be back in three weeks after the Queen Elizabeth, but if she runs like she has been and wins, we might in fact do it because there's nothing else for her.”
